Nina is doing everything she can to be able to make her little family of three survive. Her mother is more or less comatose, and she is doing as much as she can to let her sister have a passable life, this by stealing, working after curfew, all that by trying to be as pious as possible so the Church doesn't catch her.

 

While walking home one night she gets hunted by one of the unclean (at least I think that's what they're called - it's been a while since I read it...) and is saved by Finn, a boy in a hoodie with exorcist-like powers. Surviving suddenly means trusting Finn, and his band of rogues, and unearthing the horrible secret the Church is hiding from them all...

 

I don't usually pick up books with overly religious themes, but I am glad I did. Vincent keeps a fast pace with many mind-fucks, always making the readers think and want to read more. I really do recommend this book and will be on the lookout for the sequel(s?)!
