In the future, the perfect world really exist. The World Controllers has used genetic manipulations, brainwashing and recreational sex and drugs to make the people as happy as possible, and everyone is a happy consumer. Except Bernard Marx. When going on a trip to the Savage Reservations he happens upon John, born to a woman from the city, and takes him back with him. You follow Marx, his lover and John, and see how the world around them reacts to them.

 

Many have compared 1984 to Brave New World to each other, and have said that the first is about a dystopia in which the population is suppressed by violence, and in the latter by happiness and pleasure. Either way, if you want a thought provoking book about possible futures, this is a good read.
